Chief Investment Officer & Portfolio Manager at Reef Road Capital

Eric Rosen currently runs his family office investing largely in private transactions. He has made numerous investments in venture capital, private equity, specialty finance, and real estate. Many of the investments are made in stressed or distressed situations requiring restructuring. He is also advising and consulting for various companies and sitting on multiple boards across industries.

Eric is currently winding down as Founder and Chief Investment Officer at Reef Road Capital. Reef Road Capital is a Credit Opportunities fund which invests across the capital structure, as well as both long and short risk. Investments include loans, bonds, equity, credit default swaps, trade claims, and I have a bias for special situations and distressed investing. After peaking at approximately $850mm of AUM, Reef Road announced it would be returning capital to its investors despite no material redemptions and positive returns.

Previously, Mr. Rosen was Managing Director and Co-Head of Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities – Americas (FICC), Head of North American Credit Flow Trading and Head of Global Distressed Trading at UBS. In addition to these responsibilities, Mr. Rosen actively traded a management portfolio and managed the Global Corporate Loan Portfolio ($60bn). Mr. Rosen was a member of the Investment Bank Management Committee, FICC Executive Committee, Credit Management Committee and Capital Commitments Committee (2011-2012).

Prior to UBS, Mr. Rosen was a Managing Director and Head of North American Credit Trading and Head of Distressed Trading at JPMorgan. Mr. Rosen actively traded a proprietary portfolio and hedged complex portfolios of High Yield and Investment Grade Bonds, Credit Derivatives, Preferred Stock, Loans, Distressed Debt, Short Term Fixed Income, Flow Exotics and Vendor Financing producing record results during the 2008 credit crisis. In addition to these responsibilities, Mr. Rosen led JPMorgan’s credit due diligence team and was responsible for risk reduction across Bear Stearns’ Loan, High Yield and Investment Grade Bond, Credit Derivative and Distressed Debt portfolios (1997-2010).

Prior to that role, Mr. Rosen was a Managing Director and Head of Loan Trading where he built and managed the number one ranked Par and Distressed Debt Loan trading business globally. In addition to these responsibilities, Mr. Rosen actively traded a proprietary portfolio of Par and Distressed Loans.
Before joining JPMorgan, Mr. Rosen was a Senior Loan Trader at Bank of America and its predecessor,
Continental Bank (1992-1997).

Mr. Rosen was Chairman of the Credit Markets Division and on the Board of Directors of The Securities
Industry and Financial Markets Association, formerly The Bond Market Association. Mr. Rosen was also the senior JPMorgan representative to the Federal Reserve Bank for discussions on the Credit Derivative Markets. In addition, Mr. Rosen has participated in discussions with the SEC, NASD, The Federal Reserve Bank and the Bank of England on issues such as market structure, derivatives, clearing, trade reporting and other proposed regulatory changes.

Mr. Rosen holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from
Florida State University.

Mr. Rosen’s community work includes supporting the Pediatric Neurology Department at New York Cornell Hospital with a focus on autism and concussions and the Children’s Health Council. Additionally, Mr. Rosen supports cancer causes and participates in a mentoring program for professional NBA players. Mr. Rosen was previously Co-Chairman of both the Apollo Family Circle and the Acquisitions Fund Dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
